The project started with an existing and outdated classical style residence with a monolithic gable simply supported by a bare minimum of columns below. Its uninspired monochromatic exterior color scheme and unobtrusive detail anchored it unceremoniously to its sight.

The front entry's demure demeanor was further reflected at the back of the residence by an understated and unimaginative rear façade. The rear elevation was an unbroken linear experience. The long length of roof weighed heavily upon the structure giving it the appearance of being overly short and thick.

Layers of exterior details were added to the home in an effort to bring it up to its full potential. A second gable was installed in front of the existing massive gable reducing its prominence with 5 additional columns below to physically and visually support the new formal entry.

New windows and doors make a bold statement from the street. Extensive millwork, fixtures, rails and color add detail and create interest throughout.

These same design principals are used at the rear entry of the home. Again two gables were used to bring the eye up and break the expansive length of the roof. Columns, this time at a reduced scale, flank the rear door and provide a once lacking formality.

New garage doors sit below arched openings, which give the appearance of greater height. Corbels and trim neatly finish off the project.

To sum it all up this house has put on its party dress!
